DIY Mermaid Sequin Bulletin Board
It seems that every time I turn around my kids have out grown their clothes…or their rooms! I set out to do a bedroom update for my daughter to turn it into something that was as functional as it would be stylish. She needed a bigger desk for homework and I wanted to give her a space that she could hang her art. Since she is obsessed with all things rose gold, I decided to make a DIY Mermaid Sequin Bulletin Board using some fabulous rose gold reversible sequin fabric!
This board is super easy to make and all of the supplies cost less than $20! The foam insulation blocks I used are lightweight so you could hang it anywhere using some velcro strips.

One of the best features of this board (other than the flippy fabulous messages you can write) is that you can customize the board to any size that suits your space! The foam can be cut down or you could add more blocks for a larger feature. Turns out 2 foam boards were perfect for my daughter’s room. Line up your boards on top of your Mermaid fabric (sequins facing down) and tape the pieces securely together.
This project is easy enough that the whole family would enjoy putting it together. With my daughter’s help, we then trimmed down the fabric so that it would easily wrap around to the back side.
Lay fabric face down and place foam boards
Line up boards
Securely tape pieces together
Use a staple gun to wrap and secure fabric
Pull the fabric taught so the front keeps its shape and trim any excess fabric. Make sure you try out all the Sequin flippy fun!
Attach your board using velcro strips and use push pins to attach art work!
My daughter’s bulletin board was such a hit that my son wanted one for his room too! He chose the white and silver reversible sequin fabric for his board.
I gotta admit…I may enjoy playing with these board more than the kids do! If you enjoyed this project, you might want to check out this post for more mermaid decor or this one for how to make a felt letter board.
