Sometimes I need a room refresh. Nothing big, nothing drastic, but something different. Something that doesn’t break the bank. Ya feel me? That’s when I think back to all the Christopher Lowell marathons used to watch with my Mom as a kid (stop laughing–ok, don’t…it is funny). I think to myself WWCLD to spruce up my Living Room on a budget? The answer surely would be found in his 7 Layers of Design. Thus began my quest for a Budget Friendly Living Room Update!
The 7 Layers of Design
- Paint? No…too much work…
- Flooring? No…I like my floors…
- No…
- Curtains check..
- Nope…
- Accessories/Texture?!?! YES!!!
Since I narrowed down a budget friendly layer that I can quickly update–I went to one of my most favorite budget friendly stores…Target. I was drawn to the pillows. Now, I can’t resist a good sale and I found the cutest marked-down Pineapple Pillow in my colors–I simply couldn’t pass up! I also found the perfect accessory with texture…bonus: it’s ombré!
What a difference a few more pillows can make! It definitely brings a cozier feel to the room without any drastic changes. Don’t believe me? Check out my poor lonely pillow-less chair before…
Also, my tiny pillow just needed a fluffy friend…
Wha-la! It looks more finished! I am completing my layers of design–all that screen time from when I was younger is really starting to pay off!
I made the other 2 pillows on the couch, but it never looked quite right. I plan on making a few more in a coordinating fabric, but for now I’m happy with my quick Budget Friendly Living Room Update.
As a result, it definitely warms the room right up and adds that extra layer I was missing. Seems like maybe Christopher Lowell would give me an A in Accessorizing!
What layer would you update? Ask yourself “WWCLD”?? Be sure to like The PharMA Blog on Facebook and share your budget friendly update tips and photos!
